This approach sees the startup founder\u2019s primary concern as finding the overlap between the customer, the problem they will pay you to solve, and the solution they will pay for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cycle that helps achieve that is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Build something small that users can try.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collect data about the experiences and behaviors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adjust your course accordingly.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Lean analytics applies to steps two and three.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lean analytics is not a set of metrics. You choose the metrics that will bring you closer to your business goals. It recommends ratios because they are understandable, comparable, and easier to act on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/PMhHb-NE_-iZDIPA44gDJrB-666WFhLIjCLx17pfiXoYGdymZ1LbP2mv0-gYW41A7lG0de6bjPMREdBZ-9pzV_c-7Gs2xCM9GfeWlpw2fnkRNs8d-Vxmit-DluJkKHuBwIByQRNiMj682uInTWI3MCBElGIdAYo96ymeYV9gFBPZefxM6UBhtJgfpw\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The lean analytics cycle.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"the-5-stages-of-lean-analytics\">The 5 Stages of Lean Analytics<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the book <em>Lean Analytics <\/em>by Yoskovitz and Croll, businesses should build products in the following stages:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.growthmentor.com\/glossary\/customer-empathy\/\">Customer Empathy<\/a><\/strong>: Making sure your product actually solves a problem for your target market. What&nbsp;are their real needs?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Stickiness<\/strong>: Making sure your target market will keep using your product. What is the retention rate? How often do users come back? Why do users leave?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Virality<\/strong>: Getting users to invite other users. What will incentivize people to spread the word? Is our onboarding process effective?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Revenue<\/strong>: Monetizing your user base. How much are users willing to pay?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Scaling<\/strong>: Increasing acquisition and retention rates while maintaining profitability.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Yoskovitz and Croll, going through these stages in order is incredibly important.
