The idea is for marketers to display their most important content above the fold so that people see it as soon as they land on the website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"above-the-fold-vs-below-the-fold\"><strong>Above the fold vs. below the fold<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Any content that users need to scroll down to see is considered to be \u201cbelow the fold\u201d. Users are more likely to consume content that\u2019s above the fold than below the fold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"the-history-of-the-fold\"><strong>The history of the fold<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In the pre-internet era, journalists used \u201cabove the fold\u201d and \u201cbelow the fold\u201d to describe where articles were placed in a newspaper.
